It isn't often that a rental is even better in person than all of the magical photos online used to entice you to stay, but The Outpost definitely can't be fully captured in a photograph. At the end of the driveway a beautiful cabin and homesite awaits guests. It is immediately obvious that the place was top notch and the owners were thoughtful and intent with every decision to create and maintain their cabin and yard. We loved it so much that we couldn't tear ourselves away to go to town and eat and made due with the few groceries we brought so that we could enjoy the porch and the sunset during our first night there. The weather was nice even at the end of July due to the nice breezes and we enjoyed the views, hiking, watching birds, etc. Inside there are movies, games, hidden mind games, and a ton of fascinating memorabilia and information honoring our first responders and veterans. There is a book that has a lot of information about The Outpost and the surrounding area which I really enjoyed reading. I like knowing that the owners are invested in the area and respect the history and their neighbors. The cabin provided everything you might need during a trip away from home. I don't think I could name one thing I looked for that I didn't find available. The master bedroom had great views of the canyon and the bed was so comfortable that we slept better in it than our own bed at home. If you are looking for the perfect place to stay that gives you seclusion, but isn't too inconvenient for trips to town then book The Outpost. You won't regret it. Make sure you visit Enchanted Rock that is nearby! We loved it.

I wish I could give 10 stars! The Outpost is by far the best vacation rental. Everything is spotless. Every detail well thought out. Whether you are looking for a retreat or a family vacation, this is the perfect place. I love The Outpost, and now so does my spouse. This year, our return to the Outpost retreat was met with the delightful discovery that the hospitality standards are better than ever. Taking a break to relax in the luxurious home and soak in the peaceful surrounding views continues to be one of our favorite highlights of the year, and this visit was no exception. We use the Outpost as a central base for day trips around the area, but we always look forward to coming back in the evening to enjoy the starry skies. This year, our son and his fiancé joined us for a couple of days, making use of the new RV hookups. They had a wonderful time, noting that it was much more comfortable and private than a crowded RV park, with the added convenience of being close to the hill country adventures they had planned. The Outpost recently installed all the necessary RV hookup equipment, making it easy to set up and relax under the stars. They also easily connected to the Wi-Fi from the main house. We deeply appreciate the Outpost’s dedication to honoring all Military and First Responders with great respect. Hosts Michael and Lori are always prompt in responding to any questions about the facility and genuinely interested in ensuring our enjoyment during our stay. If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place to stay, The Outpost is your place! My husband and I stayed for four nights. Sitting in the hot tub in the evenings watching the sunset and gazing at the stars was absolutely amazing. The cabin was perfect. It is equipped with anything and everything that you might need. Our stay at The Outpost was nothing short of amazing! We have two young kids and a dog, and we were looking for a low-key family getaway to celebrate my husband's 40th birthday—this place was absolutely perfect for us. One of the most special touches was the veteran and first responder memorabilia throughout the home. Since my husband is a veteran, it was truly meaningful to see him take the time to look through and appreciate all the incredible pieces. You can tell The Outpost was built with love—the craftsmanship, the thoughtful details, and the welcoming atmosphere make it feel so special. The owners went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay. From the movie night snack box, to the complimentary bottle of wine, to the incredibly well-stocked kitchen with top-notch appliances, every little detail was taken into consideration. The location was perfect—close enough to town for convenience but far enough away to enjoy peace, privacy, and the most breathtaking night sky. The stars were truly out of this world!
